General information
Sandra Layman's CD Little Blackbird: Klezmer, Romanian, Greek, Turkish, and Hungarian Music, was released in December 2001 on the Rosin Dust MusicTM label (RD-CD 101).
Little Blackbird features 74 minutes of stirring, poignant, and unusual traditional violin music accompanied by expert musicians on a variety of instruments.
The 35 tracks were recorded mostly in live performances, 1982-85, and were compiled and mastered in the fall of 2001.
The title of Little Blackbird was taken from one of the Romanian numbers on the CD (track 3).
Little Blackbird was named one of the Ten Best CDs of 2001 by Ari Davidow of klezmershack.com, the web's largest site devoted to klezmer (Eastern European Yiddish instrumental music), as well as a lot more varieties of Jewish music.
